Other Information  He joined Wakeford's subdivision of Bailie's party, and in 1820 applied for permission to move to Cape Town to carry on his trade, as he had no knowledge of agriculture.
One John Thompson, with his wife and child, was given a permit to leave the colony for England in February 1821, but he was not described as a settler and it is not certain that he was the same man.
