20 Feb 1808: Mr. BENNETT, Merchant, arrives Table Bay in 'Cambria', John NEAT, Master, ex Spithead (28 Nov.) for the Cape. C.O. 6080.
14 May 1808: Mr. BENNETT announces his intention of leaving the Colony (he evidently changed his mind).

Note that on 5 May 1813 Mr. BENNETT, Cape Merchant, arrived Table Bay in 'Ranger', ex Algoa Bay (1 May) to this place - H. McGREGOR, Master C.O. 6081.
This could not have been Thomas, who had only reached Cape Town for the first time on 27 Apr 1813 - eighteen days before. It must have been George, who had evidently been up to Algoa Bay to investigate its
possibilities.
