Notes |
- Edgar was born in Twickenham, Surrey and educated initially in England and then St Andrews College, Grahamstown. He was a Private in the 'Diamond Fields Horse' who provided a contingent of 127 men within the Bechuanaland Field Force in 1897. From Nov 1899 to Apr 1901 he served in Rimington's Guides and then in the Stellenbosch District Mounted Troopers until 1902. He then farmed at Welmold Lynedoch Station near Cape Town and after marrying Florence at Claremont, travelled north to farm at Belvedere near Woodbush in Zoutpansberg. On 12 Feb 1905 they had a baby girl (Helen Elizabeth Gertrude Douglas Forster). She was baptised at Bloemfontein Cathedral on 3 Apr that year. The baby died in early 1906, followed by Florence on 3 Jun 1906. Edgar moved to a new farm at Ravenshill but he too passed away on 29 Apr 1910, aged just 35. {per Paul Bowman }
