Hon Sir,

May I request the favour of you to allow your clerk to make an enquiry for me in Lord BATHURST’s office.

A young man of the name Frederick George RANN (who was formerly in my service) is going out as a settler to the Cape of Good Hope on the ship Stentor from this port. I have paid ten pounds to a Mr. NEAVE as the deposit with Government. I wish to ascertain if his name is regularly entered in the books at the Colonial Office & if the proper document as to the port of [obscured is sent down here. If it is not already done I should wish it sent down to me as you may safely inform them the deposit is regularly paid & I have Mr. NEAVE’s receipt for the same. Accept my thanks for all the trouble I give you & be assured I am

Yours respectfully

Henry WILSON
