The humble petition of Randle WILKINSON now residing in Pickodilly in Stockport in the County of Cheshire, that you Lordship’s petitioner sheweth

Being informed your Lordship is now giving men residing in England Ireland & Scotland encouragement for settlers to go to the Cape of Good Hope to cultivate the land belonging to the English Government being allways brought up to the farming business I wish to be admitted to go on that footing if your Lordship will be pleased to make me acquainted with the terms Government pleases to offer me. As I am a poor man I cant pay my own expence. I am one of His Majesty’s faithful loyal subjects & should your humble petitioner be so fortunate as to meet your Lordship’s approbation on the subject your Lordship’s petitioner will for ever in duty bound will ever pray &c &c
