The Memorial of Adam MULHOLLAN, late a Permanent Serjeant in the Baltinglass Yeomans Cavalry, commanded by the Honble Captain STRATFORD
Humbly Sheweth,
That your Lordships Memorialist is induced to supplicate you in behalf of himself, his seven sons and their Families, comprising in the whole 28 persons to grant him, and them, a free passage to the Cape of Good Hope.
Memorialist begs to add that he was Permanent Sergeant in the above Corps from its formation in 1796 untill its being disembodied in 1814 a period of 18 years, that during that time, he had the honor of being approved of by the General and Field officers under whom he served, and that the Corps has been repeatedly commended, by those officers for their Spirit, Bravery and Attachment to their Sovereign, and the Constitution of the Realm in, and since the late Rebellion in Ireland.
That Your Lordships Memorialist sustained many losses in property and substance, during that unfortunate period, that he never asked, or received any Compensation for his losses, he being in Affluent Circumstances, and willing to bear a part, but from a decay in Trade, is now reduced to the necessity of emigrating to a Foreign Land.
He therefore trusts that Your Lordship will be graciously pleased to take the state of himself and Family, as above stated into consideration, and grant him, and them, as to other Emigrants in similar situation, or as to you may seem meet.

I recommend Adam MULHOLLAN to the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Ireland. I think him deserving of every encouragement that can be given him. He is an intelligent man, and fully competent to conduct any number of persons to the Cape of Good Hope that he may select to settle there, he has served in my Corps of Cavalry permanent Serjeant 18 years, in and during the late Rebellion, has repeatedly distinguished himself. For his Loyalty and zealous Attachment to our gracious Sovereign and the Constitution of this Realm I can pledge myself for - he is a protestant and a proved soldier.
