Sir,

Understanding it to be the intention of Government to send some settlers to the Cape of Good Hope in order to form a colony, I therefore make application to you in order that I may gain information of the plan I am to pursue in order to gain a conveyance to this settlement, having been out of employ some time and having no hopes at present of getting any employment. I am a labourer and aged twenty three years.

I am Sir

Yours,

Mich’l LINIHAN
