Sir,

            Having seen an advertisement in the paper that your Lordship wishes to engage with some familys to go as settlers to the Cape of Good Hope, I having a wife and three children being the former part of my life brought up in the farming line but now follow the carpenter & cabinate bisiness, which not answering my expectations have no objection to go to the Cape if agreeable to your Honor wish. Our ages as follows; My age 29 wife age 29 first child 4 years 2nd child 3 years 3rd child 1½ years.

            If this meets with your Honors approbation please to send an answer with the engagement as soon as convenyant, having my goods & many other matters to settle.
