            I Beg Leave to trouble you with these few Lines in hopes that you Will Be So Kind as to Let me the Grant that is Allowed to Men that would Wish to Proceed to the Colonies in the Cape of Good Hope, With Regulations and trough What Investigation a Person may Proceed, as I am a Young Man and a Smith By Trade With Only a Wife & Child as Family and have Been in His Majesty’s Service Before and But a Small Pension.
