Sir,

Understanding that Government is giving encouragement to individuals and their families who may wish to emigrate unto the Cape of Good Hope I should be obliged if you would favour me with the particulars relating thereto. My family consists of myself, wife and sister and four children, that is to say two girls and two boys the oldest fourteen years of age and the youngest two and a half years old. Its useless to mention what makes me make this application still I might had [add] that being in hopes that by labour and industry I shall be enabled to bring up my little family in the love and fear of God and man and am very respectfully
