My Lord,
Having seen the advertisements that your Lordship wishes to engage some familys to go as settlers to the Cape of Good Hope, having a wife & 2 children, by [career?] a dairyman, should have no objection if it meets your Lordship’s approbation. Having been brought up in the farming line my present business not answering my hopes ??. My age 30, wife 27 first child 8 2nd child 3 years. If it meets with your Lordship’s approbation please to favour one with an answer with the particulars of the ?engagement?, having my present business with considerable property to dispose off.
