Gentlemen,

                        Having a wife and 3 children and so small a proportion of employ as is totally inadequate to our subsistence, Humbly beg leave to offer myself to your favour and consideration as one who together with my family earnestly solicit to embark as and become settlers abroad in that part under the superintendence of your Department and having served an apprenticeship in South America as a planter am not unacquainted with the methods and nature of a foreign climate – anticipating and hoping the success of this my application
