Sir,
Understanding that Government are willing to give encouragement to persons emigrating to the Cape of Good Hope I shall feel much obliged to you if you will favour me with an account of the regulations that are to be observed by those who settle there. I am at the present engaged in business but on account of the sad state of trade I am not doing so well as I could wish. I have therefore been led to turn my mind to the subject of emigration and if the offers of Government are advantageous I shall embrace them.
