My Lord,

            In consequence of a proclamation being issued from Government I have take the liberty of applying to your Lordship for further information respecting the British settlement in the Cape of Good Hope – and if pensioners will be allowed to receive their pensions in the above settlement, as I am a out pensioner from the Royal Hospital Greenwich and as a wife and four children.

I am your Lordship’s most obedient and humble servant
